Somerton, Oxfordshire

The Millennium

At the turn of the millennium, a series of photographs was taken to capture Somerton as it stood at that moment in time. These images form a record that is both simple and significant — showing the village not as it might be presented, but as it simply was.

Many of the locations connect directly to earlier chapters of this document. The Old School House on Water Lane appears not as a historical site but as part of the present-day village. The church remains a constant presence, linking the village of the present to the one described in earlier centuries.
