April is our AGM and we urge all members to come along and talk about the past year, what was good, what, if anything, could be changed and ideas for the forthcoming year.  We welcome everyone to our meetings so if you would like to join us in a convivial evening (with wine, we are not called SWIG for nothing), please come along.

For our March meeting we welcomed James Williams who gave a very interesting talk with slides on the Life of Charles Dickens.  He handed round some first editions of Dickens’ novels for us to see which was a real treat, and told us a bit about the finding, buying and selling of first editions.  We had a few problems with the screen and thank him for his patience, it was worth the wait.:

I see you have no speaker on Sept 8th. I have a powerpoint presentation regarding Somerton village life up to the 1960s. I present this regularly to various groups and would be willing to let you see it at no charge. I come to my mothers’ grave regularly so can contact you in person if you so desire. Regards, John Webb

Thank you for your message regarding the September Meeting. I do apologise for the delay in replying.

One of our members is in the process of arranging a speaker for the September Meeting but has yet to confirm to us that he is able to attend. I’ll chase it up, and if for any reason he can’t make that date I’ll get back to you. I’m sure the Somerton residents would be interested in your presentation and if not in September then perhaps at another date that would be convenient to you.

      Many thanks for your interest.

      Dear Mr Webb

As I mentioned in my previous message we were waiting for one of our members to confirm she had arranged the speaker for September. This has now been confirmed.

If you would be willing to do your presentation at another date it would be lovely to see you. We’re booked up now for this year but I will let you know of a date for next year when I’m able if this would be convenient for you.

      Many thanks

      Hello John

I wonder if you would be able to do your talk at our SWIG meeting on Somerton Life on Tuesday the 9th May 2017 next year? We have speakers arranged for the meetings before this date but if this is not convenient please let me know and I can give you another date.

Hope you are well and look forward to hearing from you.

        Hi Shiey,

Your email seems to have come to the wrong address. I take it that it should have been posted to John Webb. Regards, Roger.
